Middle level of ICT integrration

Simulation

In today's class, we went through exploring PhET simulation. PhET simulations are actually a interactive online tools that allow us to explore various scientific concepts through virtual experiments. This PhET simulations are fantastic resources for learning and understanding complex topics in a fun and engaging way. The main purpose of using PhET simulation in teaching learning session that I find interesting as well is because it is user-friendly along with being a engaging. This provide a safe and controlled environment for experiment especially with little children. Along with having safe environment, it also provides students with hands-on experience which helps in deeper understanding of the concept. For a teacher, I personally feel that it's more like a hitting two birds with a stone.

The Middle level of ICT integration refers to a stage where technology is used in a more meaningful and integrated way in teaching and learning. At this level, teachers and students go beyond basic computer skills to enhance their understanding of different subjects. In this level, educators incorporate technology into their lessons to facilitate interactive and collaborative activities.

As for the learners, in this level they are encouraged to use technology as a tool for research, analysis, and creative expression. They can collaborate with their peers using digital platforms, create multimedia projects or participate in virtual discussion. To conclude, ICT integration in Middle level empowers both learners and educators to explore new possibilities and engage with the content in a innovative ways.

As a teacher-to-be, I would use the concept of 'Middle Level of ICT integration' in teaching children through PhET simulation which is engaging as well as safe for experiments. Now, let's see how I will integrate the idea of PhET simulation in teaching and learning along with the lesson plan for the topic. "Revolution of the Earth".

Lesson Plan

Date: 15th April                         Class: IV

Number of students:                     Duration: 45 Minutes

Topic: Revolution of the Earth

Materials Required:

-PhET simulation on revolution of Earth

-Visual aids such as video

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the class, a child will be able to:

1. explain the concept of Earth's revolution and it's impact on the changing season,

2. use a PhET simulation to explore and visualize the earth's revolution,

3. apply the idea of revolution of the Earth's  and its impact on seasons to create simulation during activity.

Lesson Introduction

- Teacher will gain attention and ask question like, "What is your favorite season?"

- Then teacher will ask, "Why doesn't we have same season all the year?".

- This question will act as a prompt to activate their thinking and question themself.

Lesson Development

Lesson Input

- Then, I will introduce the topic, "Revolution of the Earth".

"So we will learn about revolution."

"Revolution is the movement of Earth around the sun in it's fixed path".

- To make the concepts clear I can show them visual illustration.

Activity 1

- In order to make the learning more engaging, I will use the PhET simulation.

- First, we will start with the intro of solar system in PhET simulation.

- For further understanding, I will divide the class in groups of 4 members each.

- Then ask students to make a simulation of revolution using their creativity in a group.

Monitoring

- I will walk around and help them with their activity.

Follow-up activity

- Then, I will collect their work and project for whole class to see.

- If time permits, then I can ask them to talk something about their simulation.

Lesson Closure

- Before we officially close for the day, I will ask students to write one thing that was fun about the class, one thing that they were confused and one thing that they learned in a paper slip.

- This paper slip will actually work as a exit ticket for them.

 Thank You!
